2009Established in 2009, the Almaty Marathon is now 17 years old. From its first edition in Almaty, it has evolved into a race that reflects the character of its host region in Kazakhstan.

The Almaty Marathon starts and finishes in Central Park, featuring a scenic route through the city's downtown, along Turgen Gorge, and through the foothills of the Trans-Ili Alatau mountains. The course offers stunning views of snow-capped peaks, particularly the Assy Plateau, while running through a mix of urban streets and park trails. Moderate elevation gain is spread throughout the course, with the most challenging sections occurring between kilometers 18-28 in the gorge area.
