The Almaty Marathon starts and finishes in Central Park, featuring a scenic route through the city's downtown, along Turgen Gorge, and through the foothills of the Trans-Ili Alatau mountains. The course offers stunning views of snow-capped peaks, particularly the Assy Plateau, while running through a mix of urban streets and park trails. Moderate elevation gain is spread throughout the course, with the most challenging sections occurring between kilometers 18-28 in the gorge area.
Spring weather in Almaty during April is generally mild with warming temperatures as the month progresses. Occasional showers are possible, but most runners enjoy pleasant conditions with clear skies and mountain views.
