2014Established in 2014, the Zanzibar Marathon is now 12 years old. From its first edition in Zanzibar City, it has evolved into a race that reflects the character of its host region in Tanzania.

The Zanzibar Marathon showcases the island's pristine coastal routes and historic Stone Town heritage. Runners navigate through winding narrow streets of the UNESCO World Heritage old town, then transition to oceanside promenades and quiet rural roads passing through spice plantations and local villages. The course is predominantly flat with minimal elevation gain, featuring spectacular Indian Ocean views throughout.
