The Early Years
2008Established in 2008, the Muscat Marathon is now 18 years old. From its first edition in Muscat, it has evolved into a race that reflects the character of its host region in Oman.
The Muscat Marathon features a predominantly flat course that loops along the scenic Corniche waterfront, offering stunning views of the Arabian Gulf and Muscat's iconic landmarks including the Grand Mosque and Old Town. The course is well-shaded in sections and designed for fast times, with excellent road conditions and support stations throughout.
January offers ideal running conditions in Muscat with mild temperatures, low humidity, and virtually no rainfall. Clear skies and gentle breezes make it one of the best times of year for distance running in the Middle East.
