Launched in 2015, the Queenstown Marathon is one of the newer races on the circuit. Despite its youth, it has quickly built a reputation in Queenstown, attracting runners drawn to its scenic routes and challenging terrain and the energy of an event still finding its identity.
With 1280m of elevation gain, the Queenstown Marathon is not a course for the faint-hearted. The climbs are where races are won and lost — where the gap between training and undertrained reveals itself without mercy. Locals say the course doesn't beat you; it just waits for you to beat yourself.
